| DATE | Thursday, September 24, 6-7:30 p.m. |
| EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION |
Join us for the closing reception of Elizabet Cerviño's The Rhythm of Resilience, featuring a site-specific performance by Cerviño and a community collage exhibition inspired by her work.
For Onomatopoeia, Cerviño collaborates with HC Ceramics Instructor Alex Zak and HC ceramics students to create hundreds of square clay tiles, each inscribed with a different letter. Together, the tiles will form a phrase and will be stacked to Cerviño's height using approximately 600 pounds of clay. During the performance, Cerviño will remove the tiles one by one, sound out each letter, and then drop the tile to the floor, where it will shatter. As the letters are spoken and the tiles break apart, language becomes sound, movement and physical matter.
The closing reception will also feature a community collage exhibition created in response to The Rhythm of Resilience by HC Art Galleries members and members of Lance Rothstein's Collage Clique. Displayed on the gallery's exterior wall, the collages offer a range of personal visual responses to Cerviño's exhibition.
Come experience The Rhythm of Resilience one final time and join us for an evening of performance, community and creative response. |
