Drop/Withdrawal Consequences

Dropping 

"Dropping" a course means that BEFORE the drop/add deadline shown on the HC academic calendar the course was removed from your schedule. You either:

1. accessed Workday and dropped the course

or

2. submitted an approved Course Schedule Adjustment form online or to an academic advisor before the drop/add deadline.

or

3. you did not take action to remove the course from your schedule before the drop/add deadline and you never attended the class. 

Please note:

  • Students who never attend a class will be reported by the instructor and removed from the class.
  • In a distance learning environment, logging into an online class is not sufficient, by itself, to demonstrate attendance. Students must establish a record of participation in academically related activities. Please be sure to adhere to the posted due dates for assignments in order to document the required active participation in your online course.

You will not be charged for a dropped course. The course will not show up on your transcript and is not an attempt for the course. Courses that are not 16 weeks long may have a different drop/add deadline.  Please check your schedule for the drop/add deadline.

Withdrawing

"Withdrawing" from a course means that you registered for the course and it was still on your schedule AFTER the drop/add deadline shown on the HC academic calendar. You either:

1. accessed Workday and dropped the course after the drop/add deadline but before the deadline to withdraw with a 'W' grade

or

2. submitted an approved Course Schedule Adjustment form online or to an academic advisor after the drop/add deadline                                          

You are responsible for full payment of all courses that are considered withdrawals. Your transcript will reflect the course as an attempt with a 'W' grade.
