Dual Enrollment and Early Admissions

Dual Enrollment (enrolled in up to 10 credit hours per term)

• Be enrolled in a Hillsborough County Public, Charter, Private or Home Education program. All schools must have an active articulation agreement with HC.
• Have an unweighted 3.0 high school GPA

Students must maintain a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA and a 2.0 HC GPA to remain eligible.

Early Admission (enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours (Full time) and a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester)

• Entering 12th grade
• Have an unweighted 3.5 high school GPA at the end of 11th grade
• Not in the running for a distinction (Valedictorian or Salutatorian)
• Have completed all requirements for high school graduation or have one or more of the following courses remaining:
  • 1 credit of English and/or
  • 1 credit of Math and/or
  • 0.5 credit of Economics and/or
  • 0.5 credit of American Government
• Score at college level on SAT, PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, ACT and/or PERT

Please complete our online Dual Enrollment application. You only need to apply one time, before your first term at HC. A new admissions application is only required if you do not enroll for three consecutive terms.

After submitting your application, you will receive an email notifying you of your next steps, including information on setting up your HC Login. Your HC login is what you will use to access HC online services like the MyHCC Portal, where you can check your Hawkmail email and access Canvas, HC’s learning management system. 

Follow the steps below to set up your HC Login.  Please note that your Hawkmail email account is your official email that HC will use to send you important information about registration and courses.

• Go to https://my.hccfl.edu/
• Enter your Hawkmail email address (above) and default password, which is the upper-case letter of your first name, lower-case letter of your last name, followed by your student ID number listed above (i.e., Ab0999999).
• When prompted, reset your default password to one of your choosing. Password Requirements: At least 8 characters and contain a combination of at least three (3) of the following types of characters: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, symbols (! $ # %, etc.).
• Follow the instructions to set up and secure your Microsoft account. Microsoft will ask for two alternative methods to verify your identity. The recommended sign-in method is the Microsoft Authenticator app. Download it now from the Google Play or Apple Store.

To access your e-mail go to Outlook 365.Login with your full e-mail address listed above and password you just created. Need help? Contact technical support at 877.736.2575 or via the HC Live webpage.

SAT, ACT, or PERT scores may be used to determine college placement. 

• PERT - You may take the PERT at any HC Test Center and the Dual Enrollment Office will have access to the scores.
• SAT/PSAT/ACT - There are 3 ways to submit these scores:
  • When registering for the ACT or SAT, you may indicate that test scores should be sent directly to HC.
  • You may email an official copy of your test scores to dualenrollment@hccfl.edu
  • You may bring an official copy of your test scores to your home campus Test Center for input into our system.

Your scores cannot be older than two years from the first day of the semester you plan to attend.

If you need to take the PERT test, you must have submitted an application for admission and received an HC student ID number and set up your HC Hawkmail account. You may take the PERT test remotely or in-person one of our test centers. To request the PERT, submit our online Dual Enrollment PERT Request.

Your initial PERT test is given at no charge. If you do not place at college level in one or more sections, you may retest for a fee of $10 per section, and you must wait 24 hours between testing. You can take the PERT four times per semester.

* MAC 1105 placement requires:

• 123 on PERT,
• 27.0 on SAT,
• 530 on PSAT NMSQT or PSAT 10, or 530 on the Digital SAT
• 21 on ACT

Dual Enrollment students must submit their paperwork online by our listed deadlines to be approved to register. Paperwork will not be accepted at HC Campuses.

Students must log in with their HC Net ID (Hawkmail) to access the system.

Once submitted, paperwork status notifications from Softdocs will be sent to your Hawkmail account.
 

If you are unsure about which courses to take, please follow the steps below:

• Students should consult their high school guidance counselor for high school graduation requirements using the Course Equivalency List.
• Students can meet with an HC Advisor to discuss degree pathways.

Follow the guidelines below for specific high school student types for submitting paperwork with the approval form:

• All Students: All dual enrollment students and their parents or guardians must sign the Dual Enrollment Student/ Parent Agreement and submit it as part of their paperwork for approval to register for classes.
• Public and Charter School students:
  • First Term:  Complete the Dual Enrollment Student/Parent Agreement
  • Each Term:  Meet with your high school guidance counselor
    • Obtain the Authorization Form B and
    • Your Student Summary Worksheet (high school transcript).
• Private School students:
  • First Term:  Complete the Dual Enrollment Student/Parent Agreement
  • Each Term:  Meet with your high school counselor or official
    • Obtain a Letter of Authorization and
    • Your transcript.
• Home Education students:
  • First term:
    • Complete the Dual Enrollment Student/Parent Agreement
    • Review the Home Education Articulation Agreement and submit the signature page
    • Provide a letter of good standing from Hillsborough County Home Education
  • Each term:
    • Provide a home school transcript,
    • Provide a Home Education Approval Form.

Once the Dual Enrollment office has reviewed the submitted paperwork, the student will receive an approval email to their Hawkmail email account with registration instructions. Students will then search for classes each term on the HC website.  For more information about selecting classes, please see the Selecting Classes topic below.

Fall 2026 Retake and Reinstatement Petition Period:

4/10/26 - 5/22/26

Dual enrollment students who would like to petition to retake a course in which they earned a W, D, or F, or who want to petition to be reinstated after falling below the required HC GPA of 2.0, may submit a petition during the dates listed above.

• Students may only have one petition approved during their time as dual enrollment students.
• Students asking to be reinstated due to falling below the required 2.0 HC GPA must retake a course in which they earned a D or F as part of the reinstatement process.

If you plan to retake a course in Fall 2026, you must also submit your normal semester paperwork in the paperwork portal. 

• Authorization from your school to take courses
• Most current transcript or report card showing you have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Any required Home Education documents if you are a home education student.

Summer 2026 Academic Calendar

Students should consult their high school guidance counselor for high school graduation requirements or the Course Equivalency List.

Students can sit down with an HC Advisor to discuss degree pathways.

Students should select an Associate in Arts curriculum pathway that prepares them for their major. 

Dual Enrollment students are limited to 10 credits per semester and cannot take preparatory or remedial courses, physical education courses, or courses less than 3 credit hours. (1 credit labs and IDS courses may qualify)

Students can search for classes each term on the HC website.

Dual Enrollment students DO NOT not use the HawkGPS system to register for classes.

After the Dual Enrollment office approves your paperwork, you will be sent an approval email with registration instructions. You must log into MyHCC, click on Student Forms, and complete and submit a Course Schedule Adjustment form.

If you need to add/drop or withdraw from your courses, you must complete and submit a Course Schedule Adjustment form through Student Forms from MyHCC.

Please consult the HC Academic Calendar for deadlines to add/drop classes or to withdraw from your classes.

You may not register or make schedule changes through your HawkGPS account in MyHCC. You must use the course selection form that will be emailed to you by the Dual Enrollment Office.

• Verify your textbook materials through the Hawk Book Bundle email that you should receive in your Hawkmail account. Dual enrollment students must stay OPTED IN to the Hawk Book Bundle.
• Be sure to check your Canvas dashboard on the first day that your course starts.
• Once you are in your course, read the course syllabus and be sure to complete the required first week's assignment so that you are not removed for non-attendance.

• All course registrations must be completed by the published deadline each semester (see Dates and Deadlines section above).
• The Add/Drop period should be used only to change sections of courses already on your schedule.
• Students may not add "new courses" to their schedule after the deadline - For example, if you've registered for ENC 1101 and SLS 1106 during the registration period, you may change the sections of those courses, but you may not add any additional courses.
• Add/Drop deadlines can be found on our academic calendar

• Withdraw: Students who drop a class after the published drop date will receive a W on their transcript, and this will count as an attempt of the course. Withdrawing does not affect the student’s high school or college GPA. Dual Enrollment students are eligible for one attempt per course.
• Earning a grade below a C: Students who earn a D or an F in a course will be considered "not passing." The grades will go back on their high school transcript and be permanent on their college record.
• Students who have earned a W, a WN, or a non-passing grade of D or F can use a one-time Dual Enrollment Petition. Students are to submit petitions to the Dual Enrollment office for review, and the student will receive an email whether the petition is approved or denied (this can take up to 6 weeks.)

No, Dual Enrollment students may only take college-level courses. Placement test scores should be submitted as early as possible so your eligibility can be determined.  DE students must satisfy the prerequisites listed for all courses. The following 5 courses have no prerequisites and are available to DE students, but you must consult with your high school counselor to make sure these satisfy your requirements for graduation:

• REA 2505 - Vocabulary Improvement
• LIN 1670 - English Grammar and Usage
• SLS 1106 - First Year Experience
• CGS 2100 - Computer Information Technology and Literacy
• CLP 1000 - Psychology of Personal Growth

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment is a program that allows motivated high school students to earn credit toward a postsecondary diploma, certificate, or degree at a Florida public institution and toward a high school diploma.

Students who successfully complete dual enrollment courses will save time toward their college degree and save money with free tuition and, if a public school student, free textbooks. Private and home-schooled students are responsible for instructional materials.

Early Admission

Early Admission students are admitted through the early admission option of dual enrollment when they register at HC as a full-time student during their senior year of high school.  Additional requirements apply – see “Meet Eligibility Requirements.”

Credits for the courses completed satisfactorily at HC will apply toward both the high school diploma and toward an associate or baccalaureate degree.

The application fee is waived and tuition is waived for early admissions students for all courses taken through this program while they are still in high school. Students must begin Early Admission in the first semester of their senior year.

• The bookstores will be open limited hours during the College winter closure.

Textbooks can be returned at the Dale Mabry and Brandon bookstores.
