EMT Admissions Process and Orientation Information
PLEASE READ: Attending the EMT Orientation is MANDATORY before registering, or you will be unable to register, no exceptions. Please keep in mind that there is an additional HC Hawk Orientation that must be completed in Student Workday. Sign up for EMT Orientation beforehand is NOT required. Registration steps will be provided at Orientation.
Spring 27 EMT Orientation Details: November 5th and November 12th , 2026, Brandon Campus Auditorium, BSSB 140. 10:00AM TO 12:00PM.
What to complete BEFORE EMT Orientation
- Complete the HC Application and become a student. Be sure to select CCC.EMT as your program on the application. Must have at least an overall GPA of a 2.0.
- Submit all college and high school transcripts as well as acceptable test scores. (If you have a college degree you only need to submit your College level transcripts.) Acceptable test scores include: SAT, ACT, PERT which is valid for 2 years, and Accuplacer.
- Take the necessary testing if you do not have college level math and reading completed. *If you must take the PERT, please visit an Advising Office at any HC campus to obtain a test pass. This test pass allows students to take the test at an HC Testing Center. No appointment is necessary. Visit the Testing webpage to learn more about the HC Testing Center’s hours of operation.
- Complete all Workday Onboarding tasks. (Residency, Financial Aid, Transcripts, Hawk Orientation, etc.)
- Complete all residency verification documents either in Workday or in Person via Admissions (faster option). Do not do both.
- Be Payment ready by Orientation.
All 3 classes must be taken at the same campus, and you cannot change campuses once classes begin. EMT Students must be registered for all three classes: EMS1119 (Lecture) EMS1119L (Lab) and EMS1431 (Clinical).
The Spring 2027 Mandatory EMT Orientation Session: November 5th 2026 and the Make-Up on November 12th, 2026. Brandon Campus Auditorium BSSB 140. 10:00am to 12:00pm. If you do not attend EMT Orientation, you will not be eligible to take EMT Courses.
If you register without attending, you will have to drop the courses.
Please keep in mind that this EMT Orientation is separate from the college's online orientation.
Although it is not required, we highly recommend you have all of the program and college requirements satisfied before attending or your registration will be delayed and seats go quickly on a first come first serve basis. Go Hawks!
How can I register after attending EMT Orientation?
These details are only provided to those who attend Orientation. Registration cannot be completed via Workday for EMT Students.
*Note: any AP/CLEP or IB transcripts must be submitted to HC directly from College Board or International Baccalaureate (IB) Corporation. College credits and test scores must be sent from the original source. Transcripts may take several weeks to be evaluated. The evaluation process cannot be accelerated. It is recommend that student submit transcripts two months before the registration period begins. If transcripts are not received, this could postpone the student’s ability to register.
- Be at least 18 years of age by the first day of classes.
- Have GED or high school diploma. Current high school or Dual Enrollment students are not eligible.
- High school seniors are not eligible for the EMT program until the fall semester after graduation because of the availability of official high school transcripts by the School District/High Schools.

If college-level English 1 and a college-level math course (STA 2023, MAC 1105, MGF 1130, MGF 1131, MAT 1033, etc.) have already been completed, the placement test will not be required. The minimum required test scores are as follows:
Accuplacer SAT ACT PERT Reading: 83 Verbal: 24 Reading: 19 Reading: 106 Writing: 83 Verbal: 24 English: 17 Writing: 103 Math: 24 Math: 19 Math: 96 *If you have taken one of these placement tests at another institution, please forward an official test score transcript to the college. For further information about transferring in test scores, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
- Have a cumulative college GPA of at least a 2.0. This does not apply to students with no prior college coursework.
- Be free from physical or mental defects or diseases which might impair your ability to function as an EMT.
- Be free from addiction to narcotics or any controlled substances.
- Wait for all submitted academic documents and information (transcripts, proof of residency, test scores, etc.) to be received, evaluated and verified by the college. This process can take several weeks. Registration will not be possible until all documents have been verified.

Provide proof of immunizations and PPD within one year of starting EMT
** All Health Sciences students are required to submit to a criminal background check, random drug test, physical examination by a medical doctor and provide documentation of up-to-date immunizations. More information about immunizations, background checks, and physical will be covered at the mandatory EMT information sessions. Complete an FDLE Criminal Background Check and other clinical requirements.

Health Sciences Program Costs. We do not accept Financial Aid for EMT.
